Born in Groot Kwartier in Curaçao, Andre's journey to becoming the head chef and visionary behind Van Rooi Seafood is a testament to his unwavering dedication and unwavering faith.
Having grown up in a Christ-centered family, Andre was always brought up to seek God’s purpose for his life and pursue it. From his early days studying hospitality, to putting his skills into practice by interning at various hotels and restaurants, Andre's culinary journey was marked by diligence and determination. With each opportunity, he showcased not only his culinary passion and abilities, but also his sense of responsibility and dedication, which lead to many private job opportunities in the culinary world.
It was during a pivotal moment of reflection, seven years ago, that Andre embarked on a new chapter, focusing solely on his passion for cooking as a Private Chef in Curaçao. Little did he know, a chance encounter with a Venezuelan fish vendor in Punda would ignite the spark that would lead to the creation of Van Rooi Seafood.
Inspired by the vendor's words of encouragement, Andre seized the opportunity to venture into the world of fish and seafood sales. Armed with his signature blue KIA and fueled by a desire to share his knowledge and passion for fresh, quality ingredients, Andre set out on a journey that would transform his life and the culinary landscape of Curaçao.
Despite facing skepticism and opposition from competitors, Andre's unwavering faith, supported by his wife's encouragement, propelled him forward. With each sale and interaction with fellow chefs, Andre's vision began to become a reality. For Andre, Van Rooi is not just as a business venture, but a mission to inspire healthier eating habits and spread the love and inspiration of God throughout the island.
As Van Rooi Seafood continued to grow, Andre remained steadfast in his belief that with faith, perseverance, and a willingness to take risks, anything is possible. Today, his once humble endeavor has blossomed into a thriving enterprise, fueled not only by the finest quality fish and seafood but by a genuine desire to uplift and empower the community.
